Modern Metro Empathy Necklace
This necklace is the first addition to the Modern Metro Empathy collection This classic yet modern metro style strategically integrates ivory and navy straightedged stones -- like tiles in a subway station -- from with scattered golds and yellows from Georgia to reflect light like the many minds and perspectives that pass through metro lines everyday. These pieces are purposefully asymmetrical like the modern styles in the 2020s in streetwear fashion from African to Asian to Western cultural trends and artifacts.

This limited edition collection is one of the latest in the line of jewelry by AdArts, a combination of a 7 year old's designs and research on an "empathic mindset". Experimental research (randomized placebo-controlled field experiments) published in the National Academies of Sciences shows that an empathic mindset can mitigate historic societal inequities like access to education (2016). The Principal Investigator who created and tested the idea explained it to Ada, and she designed this jewelry line to spread its effects with others throughout the world.

Sankofa Empathy Necklace
Handmade Nigerian designed necklace with brilliant Rhode Island stones in a classic color spectrum of ivory and ebony. The pattern is designed to highlight the past or the essence of sankofa birds "looking back while flying forward", a key form of an empathic mindset. This piece emphasizes self-compassion about the past in order to fully be present when empathizing in the present and for the future.

This necklace took Ada approximately 2 hours days to design based on Dr. Jason Okonofua's description of Sankofa Empathy, a special kind of perspective-taking that looks back while flying forward. Research shows that there are many pivotal moments in history that were guided with the power of empathy or could have benefitted from it. This is marked in the light reflecting black and white lens, a way of seeing the past but with clarity. The theme is developed from research at Stanford University and published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
